FELIX TORRES
Music & Artistic Director
Felix Torres is the Music & Artistic Director of the Mesquite Symphony Orchestra, a position he has held since 2017. Under his leadership, the orchestra was awarded the 2025 American Prize in Orchestral Performance in the Community Division.
Felix's conducting career has included leadership positions with orchestras throughout Texas. He served as Co-Founder, Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the Texas Institute for Orchestral Studies from 2023–2026, following his service as Associate Artistic Director from 2021–2023. He also served as Music & Artistic Director and Executive & Artistic Director of the East Texas Youth Orchestra from 2018–2025.
Previously, Felix was the Apprentice Conductor of the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra from 2012–2014. Working closely with Music Director Miguel Harth-Bedoya, he conducted the FWSO in neighborhood and youth education performances and assisted Harth-Bedoya and guest conductors during subscription concerts at Bass Performance Hall. Felix has also worked with youth orchestras in Texas and Illinois, including the Fort Worth Youth Orchestras.
Felix holds a Bachelor of Music Education, a Master of Music in Wind Conducting, and a Master of Music in Orchestral Conducting from Texas Christian University. He studied orchestral conducting with Miguel Harth-Bedoya and Germán Gutiérrez; wind conducting with Bobby Francis; and choral conducting with Dennis Shrock and Ron Shirey. While at TCU, Felix served as a Graduate Conductor with the TCU Bands and Assistant Conductor of the TCU Symphony Orchestra, making his international conducting debut with the orchestra during its 2013 tour of Argentina.
In addition to his conducting career, Felix is the founder of Resonance Music Press, established in 2026 to provide publishing infrastructure for composer-led catalogs while allowing composers to retain ownership of their work. Prior to founding Resonance Music Press, Felix spent twelve years with FILARMONIKA Music Publishing, a catalog dedicated to music from Latin America and the Caribbean, serving as Managing Director, Music Publishing Manager, and Production Manager.
Felix is also the founder of Elaren Studio, where he develops software and operational tools for arts organizations, healthcare teams, and nonprofit organizations. His work includes OrchestraOS, an operations platform designed specifically for performing arts organizations.
His arts leadership experience includes serving as Managing Director and Director of Operations for Caminos del Inka and as Managing Director, Associate Director, and Director of Admissions for The Conducting Institute. He has also served as an Adjunct Professor of Arts Leadership at Texas Christian University.
Felix and his wife, Lacey, founded the Wright Torres Foundation in 2019 as a way to give back to the areas that have provided them with the most fulfillment: animals, mental health, and music.
